Laherte Frères’ Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is 100% Chardonnay from Chavot and Épernay, grown on soft clay and chalk. Half of the blend is reserve wine and there is no dosage.
It was unmistakably a blanc de blancs: fresh, mineral, and driven by acidity. Chalky and persistent, with an electric first impression.
For all that freshness, it was not quite as tense as expected. It needed a little more body and another layer of flavour to feel complete. Still, it was brilliant with shellfish and sushi.
